Below, The Music Video For James' Single "Snakes And Ladders"
James writes songs that are designed to be listened to, often touching on deeper themes such as relationships and mental health that contrast with the upbeat happy sound of the music.
James first hit the live music circuit in Birmingham in 2015 bursting onto the scene with a larger than life live persona, a live looping pedal and memorable songs with a folk and singer songwriter style. After moving to Bath and taking a year away from his solo project to front the pop/rock band “That’s Just You” (2016/17) James’ songwriting style developed to incorporate elements of Rock, Jazz and even elements of Rap. This change in style resulted in his debut single “Half Past Two” a song about student life that takes sonic influences from all of these genres.
After releasing this single and touring the UK in 2018 James found himself refining his sound alongside his live band, Going back to his folk roots and taking sonic influence from artists such as Frank Turner, Billy Bragg, Barenaked Ladies, The Lightning Seeds, The Beautiful South, Jake Bugg and Gaz Brookfield. His Second and Third singles "Castaway" and "Snakes And Ladders" were released in March 2019 and July 2019. More single releases followed that year, and James’ eclectic mixture of influences from intimate folk to punk rock can be seen in the music he has released so far.
